At the center of Elisabeth Efird's Round Lake Trustee election campaign is the determination that every voice in the community should be sought and heard. Good local policy must be built on a solid understanding of the needs and wants of the community.
A Round Lake Trustee should strive to provide opportunities for their residents to enjoy music, fairs, and activities. If Elisabeth Efird wins this election she promises to work on providing a local farmer's market, community garden, and summer music and movie events.
In the past residents have stated that the Round Lake Trusees have not given them a respectful space to air their concerns. This is an essential role of the government. Further it has been more than ten years since Residents have been asked for what services they need from their government. This election is a chance to change all that!
Every resident should have the ability to easily observe local meetings. Although being present does allow you to provide comments - you shouldn't have to be in the room to be aware of what is happening to your community.
During 2025 it has been announced that water bills will be drastically increasing. This is a failure of the prior board. Good accounting practices and management means that no citizen should face a 60% increase in water bills.
Currently the Round Lake Board only meets twice a month. Efird's position is that more meetings are necessary as it would provide the community with more access to the decisions that effect their community.
Efird pledges that she will never vote in favor of any use of community land for trash disposal.
Elisabeth has been an active member of the Round Lake community for 12 years. She is married and has one child. She grew up overseas as her parents served as US diplomats. Elisabeth has first-hand knowledge about living in a democratic country but also of living in a country where the voices of the people are not heard. This experience shaped her interest in government and her steadfast belief in the importance for every citizen to have access to their representatives.
Elisabeth is an attorney with extensive experience in both corporate and civil rights law. Ms. Efird has been practicing law for over twenty years. During her practice, Ms. Efird has addressed issues of corporate and government compliance, public welfare, and equal rights. She is a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts.
Elisabeth is involved in the community by working with children on their debate skills, serving as a Master Gardener for Lake County, and participating in fundraising for domestic violence prevention and food pantries.
